Elastic Two-component Silicone Sealants
Secure Mounting of Junction Boxes on Solar Modules
Junction boxes pool the current generated by the solar cells and redirect it. Since complete modules cease to function if junction boxes fail, special attention must be given to their proper mounting.
To ensure that the junction box functions for the entire life of a module, the contact points must be permanently protected from moisture and fine dust. Elastic 2-component silicone sealing compounds developed by OTTO offer good self-adhesion on glass and Tedlar sheets: they flow round the sensitive contact points and protect them for many years. Showing good resistance to weathering, aging, and UV radiation, these sealants also provide permanent temperature resistance (up to +150 °C) and good electrical (insulation) properties. According to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) they give a tested RTI value (Relative Thermal Index) of +105 °C. Furthermore, they conform to UL flame classification HB. The elasticity of the materials compensates for vibrations and thermal expansion. The sealants react at room temperature without additional activation and can be processed automatically and effectively using mixing and dosing systems. Their viscosity ensures reliable flow around even tight undercuts.
