From 5 to 8 September 2011, more than 900 exhibitors from more than 30 nations will present their products and technologies. In 2012 the exhibition, supply industry, PV system companies and distributors, installation companies, project development companies, research and testing institutes, and engineering consultancies. Having occupied 65,000 sqm in Hamburg in 2009, the exhibition area for the trade fair will be expanded to more than 85,000 sqm in 2011. Additional modern exhibition halls in section A of the International Fair Hamburg will be integrated to offer more exhibition space than in 2009.

Exhibition Represents Entire PV Value Chain

The PV industry exhibition will focus exclusively on photovoltaic solar energy and is representative of the entire PV value chain. The global players of the PV solar sector from more than 30 countries will present their latest products, innovations, and services to an international professional audience. The exhibitor breakdown aga

in shows a very strong participation of manufacturers of PV production equipment, with 40 percent of the currently booked space, followed by the group of manufacturers of PV products with 38 percent.

Scientific conference on latest technologies and future challenges of photovoltaics

For many years, the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition has combined a major PV industry exhibition with a leading international scientific conference. The conference will take place from 5 to 9 September and the detailed Conference Programme has already been published online. After reviewing the 1,728 abstracts submitted for presentation, the Scientific Committee comprising 185 leading experts from the global PV community drew up the programme of what is the world’s largest photovoltaic solar energy conference. Under the guidance of Conference General Chairman Dr. Heinz Ossenbrink and Technical Programme Chairman Dr. Arnulf Jäger-Waldau, both from the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre, the scoring results were discussed and the conference programme was defined and structured. The soaring number of 82 sessions with 28 plenary, 326 oral, and more than 1,200 visual poster presentations takes this international PV conference to the next level.

In seven keynote presentations, high ranking speakers from international research facilities and from the global PV industry will give an overview and outlook on the latest technologies and future challenges of photovoltaics. The Conference Programme covers the entire scope of PV technologies, including sessions and presentations on the topics:

  • Advanced photovoltaics
  • New concepts and ultra-high efficiency
  • Wafer-based silicon solar cells and materials technology
  • Thin film solar cells
  • Components for PV systems
  • PV systems
  • PV taking off: Large-scale deployment

“The past year has seen a lot of progress in PV deployment, notably in Europe with an estimated installation of almost 1

4 GW. Meanwhile all European Member States have delivered their National Renewable Energy Action Plans to the European Commission, and it appears that there is a firm commitment which will take Europe’s PV capacity to 100 GW by 2020,” Conference General Chairman Heinz Ossenbrink states. “Many presentations at the 26th EU PVSEC address the technology developments leading up to 2020, and in particular Europe’s role in attaining this expected capacity.”

PV industry related topics

The exhibition, running in parallel with the conference, will provide a showcase for technology and service providers involved in the PV solar field

In addition to the ever more comprehensive Scientific Conference Programme, the EU PVSEC will be complemented by sessions on PV industry related topics, with new applications, ideas, and solutions for cell and module production. The programme will incorporate extra auditoriums and lecture rooms in the exhibition area with up to 800 seats, supplemental to the facilities at the CCH – Congress Centre Hamburg. A continuous shuttle service will ensure that all visitors and delegates will be able to conveniently commute between all exhibition halls and all conference facilities. Furthermore the following parallel events will take place:

  • 8th European PV industry summit
  • PV production forum 2011
  • Photovoltaics, forms, landscapes
  • Photonics forum 2011
  • Driving future PV deployment
  • EU PVSEC business forum 2011
  • Sustainability aspects for terawatt-scale photovoltaics Industry presentations

For all parallel events, the specific registration requirements are indicated in the respective section of each parallel event. If you are registered for the conference (one day or full week) admission to all parallel events is included on the day(s) you registered for.

EU PVSEC Student Awards

For the first time, EU PVSEC Student Awards will be presented to encourage high-quality work among young researchers. In recognition of the most remarkable and outstanding research work in the field of PV, the scientific committee nominates up to six awardees who will receive their Student Award during the upcoming event in Hamburg.

The EU PVSEC is supported by European and international organisations such as the European

Commission, UNESCO – United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE – World Council for Renewable Energy, IPVEA – the International Photovoltaic Equipment Association, and by an institutional cooperation with EPIA – the European Photovoltaic Industry Association. The Technical Programme is coordinated by the European Commission, DG Joint Research Centre.

2012 EU PVSEC moves to Frankfurt

In 2012 the 27th EU PVSEC will take place in Frankfurt, Germany. This is the first time that Frankfurt will be the focal point for the global photovoltaic solar sector: From 24 to 28 September 2012, this event will gather experts from research and from industry on the Messe Frankfurt fairground. EU PVSEC Executive Director, Peter Helm: “The EU PVSEC will take place in Frankfurt in 2012. With this decision, we are pleased to offer excellent conditions to our conference participants, exhibitors and trade visitors. This financial and business hub can be reached quickly and easily from all over the world. With a perfect infrastructure and a large selection of hotels in all categories in the vicinity of the exhibition grounds, Frankfurt provides ideal conditions for all those attending this international event.”
