Together with the XSR1 Screen Printer or with the purchase of the Asys Ultraline, Asys offers a printing and optical inspection solutions for easy integration of the Double Print technology into existing lines. The company is introducing mass production Dual Print technology for front side metallization. The new technology provides an easy way to independently lower the height of the busbars while heightening the finger grids, thus reducing the amount of expensive silver paste required for the front side of the solar cell.

To minimize investment costs, the same metallization line layout with two screen printers for the front side prints can be used for Dual Print as well as Double Print applications. Selective Emitter technology works with a selective diffusion structure on the emitter side of the cell. To reduce the contact resistance, various processes are utilized to produce an increased concentration of dopant atoms under the metallizing contacts. Increases in efficiency of up to 0.8 % are possible. The high repeat accuracy of the printers also makes them usable for the precision positioning of metallization prints on top of the selectively doped regions.

The Metal Wrap Through-concept essentially reduces metallization on the front-side of the cell, which in turn reduces the shadowing effect of the received sunlight. This reduction is achieved by moving some of the front side contacts to the back of the cell, which consequently reduces the front-side metallized area by almost 40 % and increases the efficiency of the cell by up to 0.3 %. The high repeat accuracy of the printers also makes them suited for the precision positioning required for MWT metallization. The XS2 Screen Printer features an optional process control for Double or Dual Print. The process control includes two vision systems: the optional “Screen Monitoring System” for the 1st front side print and the “Double Print Control” for the 2nd front side print. The vision systems are installed on the outlet conveyor of the printer and utilize high-precision X / Y / Theta correction.
